Welcome to Scribbling Theology
This little corner of the internet is where I wrestle with God, beauty, Scripture, and the strange ache of being human. It is not a place for polished answers or textbook theology. It is a place for questions, wonder, and the sacred in very ordinary life. If you are tired of easy certainties but still drawn toward Jesus, you are in the right place.
What this space is about
Scribbling Theology exists for three main things:
- Honest wrestling
Real questions, real doubts, real stories. No spiritual performance. - Beauty and imagination
Poetry, metaphor, and the arts as ways of paying attention to God. - Deep, hopeful theology
Big themes like union with God, the renewal of all things, and the healing of shame are explored with both head and heart.
You will not find neat systems here. You will find a journey toward a God who is far kinder and more beautiful than we were told.
Who this is for
This space is especially for you if:
- You love Jesus, but feel restless or disenchanted with church culture
- You sense that beauty, art, and the imagination are part of your faith
- You are curious about themes like universal restoration, theosis, and contemplative prayer
- You want to think deeply without leaving your heart behind
If that sounds like you, you are at home here.
A few good places to begin
Here are some posts that capture the heart of this project. Swap in whatever links you want; these are just examples using your existing work.
- Genesis 1-11 Part I: Authorship, Context and Genre
- What is Religious Trauma?
- Moving Beyond Biblical Literalism
You can always explore more through the menu or the search bar.
May this space give you language for things you have felt but never quite named.
May it disturb what needs disturbing and comfort what needs comfort.
And may it help you recognise the quiet presence of Christ in your own untidy, ordinary life.
Welcome. I am glad you are here.
